Admission Policy 2025 – IHT and MATS

This policy applies to all Government, Autonomous (Civil-Military), and Private Institutes of Health Technology (IHT) and Medical Assistant Training Schools (MATS) in Bangladesh.

IHT MATS Admission 2025 Exam Date –

IHT MATS Application Start – 10th August 2025
IHT MATS Application End – 5th September 2025

IHT MATS Admit Card Download -20th September 2025
IHT MATS Admission Date -26th Spetember 2025 or 3rd August 2025

IHT MATS Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must be a permanent citizen of Bangladesh. The candidate must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination in the current academic year or within the last 4 academic years. The candidate must have passed SSC or equivalent examination from the science group, with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Biology must be a subject with a minimum GPA of 2.00 in Biology.

For ‘O’ Level students

They must obtain a Grade Equivalence Certificate from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) after paying the prescribed fee.

Admission Test Process:

Merit will be calculated based on the SSC GPA (GPA × 2 = 10 marks) and a 100-mark MCQ exam, for a total of 110 marks.

1-hour MCQ test (based on SSC syllabus) will be held with the following distribution:

Bangla – 15
English – 15
Mathematics – 15
Physics – 15
Chemistry – 15
Biology – 15
General Knowledge – 10

Pass mark: 40

If multiple candidates score the same, selection will be made based on total marks and GPA in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in SSC or equivalent.

Candidates who fail the central admission test will not be eligible for admission to any government or private IHT/MATS.

In-service departmental candidates

In-service departmental candidates can apply to IHT courses (excluding Sanitary Inspector Course); 10% seats reserved for them. Must have equivalent qualifications and participate in the admission test. Age must be under 40 years.

Departmental candidates for Sanitary Inspector Course

Must have passed HSC (any group), be below 40 years old, and have at least 3 years of service in relevant positions.

Selection for Sanitary Inspector Course will be based on:

6% of SSC marks + 8% of HSC marks Experience bonus: 2 marks per year beyond 5 years (max 10 marks) No written/oral exam for this course

100 seats reserved (50 each in IHT Dhaka & Rajshahi), with 10 seats for private institutions approved by authorities.

Result Preparation & Selection Process:


Selection will be strictly merit-based. For government institutions, admission depends on merit rank and chosen preferences.

A final merit list and waiting list will be published on the websites of DGHS and State Medical Faculty.

Selected candidates must enroll within the given timeframe.

Migration (transfer) from one institution to another will not be allowed during the course.

Candidates who passed the admission test but didn’t get into government institutes may apply to private ones if seats are available.

Private institutions must report admissions to the Director of Medical Education and the Secretary of the State Medical Faculty.

A waiting list will be maintained for each faculty. Vacant seats will be filled from this list.

Reserved Quotas:

1% tribal quota: Must appear in the exam and qualify on merit. Required documents: Hill Tracts tribal: Circle Chief & DC certificate Non-Hill Tracts tribal: Community Head & DC certificate

If no suitable candidate is found, seats will be filled from general merit list.

Document Verification:

Institutions must verify SSC certificates and transcripts with the respective Education Board after admission.

Curriculum & Internship:

All students must follow the State Medical Faculty-approved curriculum.
MATS students must complete 6-month internship at a 100-bed or district-level hospital after completing the course, as per the approved logbook.

Merit-based Financial Aid (Private Institutions):

5% seats reserved for meritorious but underprivileged students. These students will pay the same fees as in government institutions. Must apply in a designated form. Selection will be made by a verified committee.

Foreign Student Admission:

Must apply via their country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Bangladeshi Embassy.

Documents will be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, then to DGHS, who will take necessary action including grade equivalency.

Admission Committee:

There will be an admission committee approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Committee decisions are final.

Penal Measures:

Any false information detected before or after admission will lead to cancellation and legal action. Private institutes admitting students beyond approved seat limits will lose their recognition. If any student is admitted without passing the admission test, the institution’s approval will be revoked, and all involved will face legal consequences.
